Health and Wellness
September is National Preparedness Month, a joint initiative between the American Red Cross and the Community Emergency Response Team. This is an annual reminder to make sure we all are prepared for any disaster.
Parish Nurse, Anna Tometczak, a registered nurse, has been added to our staff this spring. She is available for health and wellness consultations, serves as a health counselor and educator for our membership as well as a guide to community resources. She administer to the Health and Wellness and Care Ministries. She is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-1pm.

(Our Parish Nurse does not replace the pastor, professional services such as physicians or hospice, make medical diagnoses or prescribe medications, replace home health care or hospital nursing care, give daily baths, fill insulin syringes, perform tasks assigned to other home health care providers, perform invasive procedures such as giving injections, change dressings, etc.)
Parish Social Worker, Susan Bergesen, has been added to our staff earlier this year. Her duties include helping people manage some of life's most difficult situations, to reoraginize after a crisis, or prepare for change. Health and Wellness Committee meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at
Care Ministry reaches out to homebound members. Care Ministry Teams provide spiritual support, visitation, and "healing meals" following hospitalization or serious illness.
Visitation Team as a part of the Care Ministry meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. This team visits homebound members.
The Prayer Ministry offers prayers for healing and thanksgiving. The Prayer Ministry group meets each Tuesday at
Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Shawls are knit or crocheted by this group and given to homebound and infirm members.
Flower Delivery Ministry--Altar flowers are separated and arranged in bud vases and delivered to the ill, those recuperating from hospitalization or experienced a loss of a loved one. If you are aware of anyone who needs a gift (Shawl or Flowers) of compassion and encouragement, please notify the church office 520 648-1633.
Care Notes give comfort, hope and help in dealing with many health issues or in facing losses of loved ones. These booklets are available in the Narthex.
CD's of our Sunday worship are mailed free to members who are homebound. Others may receive a CD for a small fee. Contact the church office.
Interfaith Breast Cancer Support Group meets bi-monthly with other churches at Risen Savior Lutheran Church for a brunch meeting. Check the DHLC calendar for dates and times.
Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest offers individual and family counseling services in Green Valley based on a sliding scale fee and some scholarships are available. For more information call LSS Counselor Holly Brown-Sisson at 520-748-2300, ext. 21. DHLC provides financial support and office space one day a week for this ministry.
