Dear Friends and Sponsors,

Greeting in the name of Jesus our Savior,

It is my prayer that this letter will find you well. It is encouraging to see COVID 19 numbers begin to reduce in the USA. I hope you are looking forward to a bright and warm summer this year. My family and I are doing well amid the current COVID 19 reality in Madagascar. In all things, Scripture reminds us to give thanks and to live in hope. Even amid challenges, we hold to our hope in Jesus and each other as God’s people.

Let me begin this letter by providing a short description of the current situation in Madagascar: click here to continue reading

Global Mission

In keeping with the DHLC goals of Celebrating Grace, Making Disciples and Making a Difference, our Global Missions is focused on the way our congregation and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America responds to God’s call to serve and to send beyond the United States. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20We pledge: to educate the congregation on programs available through the ELCA Global Missions; to be a liaison for ELCA World Hunger appeals by our prayers and giving; being advocates for all peoples in disaster and need; support Fair Trade food products and other grass roots groups; support Lutheran World Relief projects and Alternate Giving; to support a sister Lutheran congregation south of our border where we can pray for and encourage a pastor or lay minister and the congregation; to be financially responsible with our annual budget and funds raised with special projects

Learn about the DHLC Global Mission ministry by visiting the “Global Mission Wall” at the north entrance to the fellowship hall.

Desert Hills Lutheran Church has an active ministry in our community and beyond. In addition to our financial support of organizations who share our mission and vision, we have members sharing their talent and time with local organizations.
