|We are Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Grand Canyon Synod, Sunrise/Santa Cruz Conference.|
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
The Women’s Ministries at Desert Hills Lutheran Church is a part of the Women of the ELCA. WELCA is separately incorporated and is not an auxiliary of the church. It is financially independent and responsible for its own financial affairs. Financial support comes from individual and group offerings and gifts.
Women of the ELCA gather in over 7,000 locations in the US and Caribbean for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more! There are four expressions of Women of the ELCA in which Desert Hills Lutheran participates:
* Local Desert Hills WELCA Congregational Unit—Women's Ministries
* Regional WELCA Conference—Sunrise/Santa Cruz Conference
* Regional WELCA Synodical Organization (SWO)—Grand Canyon Synod, 2D
* Churchwide WELCA Organization (CWO)—located in Chicago, IL
At Desert Hills Lutheran we belong to the Sunrise/Santa Cruz Conference, one of eight separate conferences in the Grand Canyon Synod. This Synod consists of the geographical area of Arizona, Southern Nevada and Southern Utah.
Our programs are open to all women in the community and their guests.
