What does it mean to proclaim Jesus as King? As most of us have never been under the rule of any royalty, the idea has a way of being “Un-American.” Thank goodness we have Burger King and Walt Disney to help us understand what a king looks and/or acts like. Think for a moment what it would have been like to live under the rule of a king? In I Samuel 8, the Israelites came to Samuel and said, “appoint a king to govern us like the other nations.” So it began, with Saul, David, and Solomon as kings. They were followed by others. Some were good. Some were crazy. Some were weak. Some were strong. What they had in common was that they were human. Today we see another type of king. One who is willing to lay down his own life and out of his pain is able still to give one hope and a blessing. That is the King, we follow.
