This weekend’s text is from John 14:23-29, which is a part of Jesus’ farewell address to his disciples. It is during this address that Jesus first mentions the advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will never leave you and will continue to teach and guide you as a follower of Jesus. Jesus is concerned that the disciples may feel abandoned or alone and assures them that the Holy Spirit, Christ’s very presence will be with them always. How has this promise of the Holy Spirit provided you strength and peace in difficult times? The Holy Spirit also is our teacher and guide. Who have been some inspirational teachers or guides in your life? Was it a formal teacher or someone who shared their wisdom and guidance in a more informal format? Who has taught you in your life? So how does the Holy Spirit teach and guide us in the ways of Jesus?
