How do we find the answers to our questions? We all have heard the expression “straight from the horse’s mouth.” While the original meaning of the phrase is lost on most of us, the meaning is clear. If you want to find the correct answer, go to the source. In our lesson for this weekend, this is exactly what Nicodemus does. Nicodemus wants the answer to the question: “Who are you, Jesus?” We are only three chapters into the Gospel of John when Nicodemus goes to make this visit with Jesus. Nicodemus comes as one who honestly knows that Jesus is from God. He comes as a Rabbi/Teacher into Jesus’ presence and quickly realizes that he is the student. Imagine for a moment that you are having a private conversation with Jesus. What would you ask? What would you expect to learn? Would you be able to appreciate it, or would it just leave you with more questions? In the scripture for this weekend, Jesus helps us to see our life experiences differently. To see in real ways how being “born again” is a willingness to have a sense of the openness to what God has in store for us today.
