Where do you go to find answers? I find it depends on the questions being asked. If you need directions, “talk to your cellphone.” If it is a good restaurant, ask a trusted friend. If it is car-related, talk to a mechanic. If it is computer related, good luck. You get the idea. But here is one, “How do you find the newborn King of the Jews when your only guide is a star?” Logic would have it that to find a new king you need to go to a place where Kings hangout like a palace. So that is where those travelers from the East made their first stop, and they were disappointed. For instead of a palace, God’s Son was humbly born. While everyone was looking for another King David to save Israel, God had other ideas. Matthew provides us with the first clue that the message of salvation and hope goes beyond the borders of the “promised land.”
