Notes:

When you take a trip to a place that you are unfamiliar with and your GPS is not working, there is a level of anxiety that begins to build as you wonder if you are on the right road, or if you are lost. That feeling of relief when you see that sign on the road that tells you the destination “is just ahead” is what this day of Transfiguration is all about. Through the changing of Jesus’ garments, Moses and Elijah appearing and the enveloping cloud, the disciples heard the voice of God declaring that the one that they were following really was the Son of God. When the disciples heard the voice, their reaction was to fall to the ground in fear. Yet through it all Jesus came and touched them and spoke with a clear voice, “Do Not Be Afraid.” As followers of Jesus, we have the assurance of the one who is at the head of the line, leading and guiding and watching over us. Today, know his presence and his peace.
