Meet Anthony Potter, our Visitation Minister, who joined Desert Hills Lutheran Church in 2013. Anthony visits members and friends in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and private homes, providing conversation, prayer, and communion to those who request it. Anthony also helps with Healing Services and is the Assisting Minister at most Saturday services at Desert Hills Lutheran Church.
Anthony grew up in Wisconsin and has been busy working since the age of 16 years. He worked in retail for 40 years of which 33 years were in management positions. He was a school bus and tour bus driver for six years in Tucson and has lived in seven states, some multiple times. Anthony was a Deacon in the Missouri Synod for 10 years, was a trained hospice volunteer for four years, and was a trained Stephen Ministry leader. He served as a Stephen Minister and Stephen Leader and Trainer at Desert Hills Lutheran Church. He shares visiting with the people at church, in the hospital, and all the other visits is what he likes the most about being a Visitation Minister.
Anthony is married to Jeanette, his lovely wife of 45 years. They have two sons, five grandchildren, and an 11-year-old dog named Benji. In his spare time, he makes necklaces, earrings, and chaplets; hikes or walks; and reads.
We are lucky to have Anthony as part of the DHLC family.
