"Built on My Rock " - Sat. August 26, 2023

Notes:

The disciples have been with Jesus for twelve chapters. They have heard his teachings. They have witnessed his miracles. They have seen the crowds respond to his presence. They are in the best position to answer, “Who do people say that I am?” and “What do THEY think?” The crowd is mixed. Some say he is the Son of Man; others say it was John the Baptist; and still others said Elijah, Jeremiah, or another prophet. Then Jesus asks those who have followed him and have experienced all things, “Who do YOU say that I am?”

Imagine being asked that question from someone you know. What would be your answer? Would you be able to declare that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God? We are able because we do not rely on our own faith or belief but on the solid foundation which Jesus provides through God’s Holy Spirit. We are built on Jesus’ rock.
