Last week, we reflected on the vastness of creation. This week, we turn our attention to the atom, which makes up all the known matter in the universe. Atoms make up the cactus in our yards, the cars we drive, and our very bodies. All things are made up of atoms. Since all of creation is made up of atoms, how does this fact help us to understand Jesus’ statement, “That I am in you as you are in me.”? We are all made of atoms that once made up all those who have gone before us. Our bodies are constantly giving off and acquiring new atoms, and it is estimated that every seven years we replace over 99.9% of our atoms. We are in fact a new person every seven years.
