"Bad Farmer?" - Sun. July 16, 2023

Preacher: Pastor Craig Larson

Series: Kingdom Parables

Category: Worship Services

Notes:

Jesus was a bad farmer. Why did he not just throw the “seed” into places where he knew it would take root? Why did he bother throwing it on the path or on rocky ground or in the thorns? The reason: one never knows who will hear and/or need the message of God’s Kingdom. Who will bear fruit or who will wither? For Jesus, the best ground, you would think, would be in the Temple or to those who had known what it was to be the Chosen people. Yet, it was the outcast and the people on the street where His word of hope took root in their hearts. When we hear this parable, we think of those times when God’s words fell on our own deaf ears. But here is the good news, we have this seed in us that even if it lies dormant for a time, it will eventually make its presence known. Don’t worry about the ending fruit; think instead of living and growing in the ongoing Kingdom of God in your own life.
