NOTES:

In this week’s gospel from Luke 10:1-11 Jesus sent out the 72 disciples to villages that he would pass through before he arrived in Jerusalem. Jesus told them to take no provisions and to live off the hospitality of those they stayed with each night. Even though Jesus told them not to bring any provisions, he did provide them the necessary proclamations to accomplish their mission. These two proclamations were:

The kingdom of God is near.

God’s peace to this house.

The trust in these two proclamations is what is needed for the journey on the missional road.

HOMEWORK:

I invite you to rewrite in your own words the two proclamations of Jesus. How would you write or say what the kingdom would be like in someone’s life?

For example, I see God working in your life to bring healing or hope.

Do the same for God’s peace to this house.

For example, trusting God in a difficult situation you seem to be able to handle the situation with more confidence.

Use these rewritten proclamations at least once a day this week as you encounter people and situations. Reflect on how these proclamations impacted the situation, the person or yourself
