"The Word is Life" - Mon. December 25, 2023

Merry Christmas! For many, the rush of Christmas is almost over. The gifts have been opened, the meal will soon be eaten, and all that remains is taking everything down to be stored for next year. Yet today we gather and hear this amazing announcement that the Word of God has become flesh and now dwells with us. What is the Word of God? The easy answer any Sunday School student knows is “Jesus.” But John expands this idea to engulf life itself. That is, Jesus is life. Life for the world, new life for you. In Jesus, life has come and this life shines with the light of God so that we do not need to fear the darkness. This gift of life in Jesus cannot be put back into a box or be stored until next year; this gift of life is on the loose bringing hope and peace.
