"What is Thankfulness?" - Sun. November 19, 2023

Last week, we focused on being grateful and how having a grateful heart enhances your life and faith. This week, we turn to giving thanks. What is the difference? While gratitude and thankfulness are similar, the real difference is that gratitude is a feeling or sense of appreciation about life in general, while thankfulness is an action resulting from a particular event or situation. So, gratitude is a feeling, while thankfulness is an action. In the Christian life, both are important. Because of our deep gratefulness for all that God has done for us in Jesus Christ, we give God our thanks and praise. Our acts of thankfulness are what drives us to love our neighbor and to serve and care for one another. Because God first loves us, which fills us with gratitude, we give thanks by loving our neighbors as ourselves.
