"You Are What You Speak " - Sun. August 6, 2023

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Have you ever heard that saying or said it yourself? It gives the impression that while physical harm can hurt, emotional trauma will not. If only that were true. The reality is that physical trauma over time will often heal, while emotional trauma often leaves permanent scars. Words do hurt and can cause a lot of damage to a person. Researchers have discovered that it takes on average ten positive words to overcome one negative comment. Are you more likely to remember all the positive words spoken to you or those harsh or negative words spoken? Words matter and how we speak to one another and about one another reveals the nature of our heart. A good tree will produce a good fruit, while a bad tree can only produce bad fruit.
